Lexington police say a man charged in connection with a recent home invasion and hammer attack last month lost his phone and got locked out of his vehicle during the attack. Authorities in Logan County arrested 21 year old Derrick Quarles last week. Lexington police say on June 21, Quarles and another man went into an apartment on State Street and attacked two men inside with a hammer. According to court documents, Quarles' cell phone and car keys fell between some couch cushions while he had one victim in a headlock. Officers later found the items and linked them to Quarles. Police say witnesses spotted Quarles near the crime scene a short time later, waiting for AAA to come unlock his car. Quarles was charged with robbery.
